New Moon Wishes

Dec 11th 2015 marks the New Moon in Sagittarius.

New moons mark the time in the cycle of the moon when it is in conjunction with the sun. They are completely in line with each other and so it is not visible from Earth, only during the time when there is an eclipse during a new moon are we able to see the new moon.

Fun Fact: This is a very special time in the calendar and it is when most women traditionally would be on their cycle. Women would ovulate with the full moon and on the new moon would menstruate. That is why it is commonly called ‘ moon cycle’. Through various breath exercises and yoga practices women can realign their cycle to be in sync with the moon.

We live by the sun but make magic by the moon. As previously discussed in the last blog. Full moons are a time to release all that no longer serves us. That which we wish to let go of. Well, once we have created space from letting go we need to fill that space with everything we do want. It is during the new moon that we manifest all that we want to bring into our lives , and replace that which we do not want. It is a transmutation of energy, from darkness to light, from impure to pure, from old to new.

This new moon is under the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a great teacher and the energy around this sign is that of a free spirit, a traveller and one can will do whatever adventure they feel necessary to accomplish their goals. However, with this free, unbounded energy comes power and it is with the bow and arrow that one channels this energy. To have their eyes set on a goal and to use the strength and might to pull the bow to launch this dream into reality. It takes precision and focus but it will get there with the right mix of effort, focus and dedication.

For this reason we have included a new moon wish ceremony. To help to bring in all your desires and wishes, and to channel this powerful energy that is circulating in the cosmos right now. Additionally, we have gifted you a beautiful Kundalini Yoga new moon meditation.

For the ceremony it is preferable to wear white/ light colored clothing. Wearing white expands the aura and includes all of the colors of the rainbow. It also represents purity and sacredness. To have an effective ceremony, it is about intention and about putting yourself in the right frame of mind and space to work on your intention.

For the Kundalini yoga Meditation is it also advised to wear a white head covering as this helps to protect the crown chakra from outside influences and protects the hair which is an extension of the nervous system. In addition, it creates a feeling of security and helps to keep the energy contained that you elevate with the meditation.

Zyza offers a variety of natural organic bamboo clothing. To support your sacred practice, here is the link to check out local, hand made items. Zyza.ca

4)  Invite the Divine in:  Light the 2 candles and invoke the divine to be present in the space and ceremony with you. Such as: I am happy, I am beautiful. Avoid writing in future tense: I will be, I want to be.

6)  Visualize:  See yourself with your wishes manifested. How does it feel, sound, taste, and look. Engage your senses in the experiences and feel as though it is already happening here and now.

7)  New Moon Meditation:  Now lets practice a meditation that helps to create a positive reality. It creates abundance and prosperity. It will help us to be in a state of gratitude for everything we have coming our way from making our new moon wishes.

8)  End the Ceremony:  Thank the divine for this space and for the time to be able to create your reality. To choose dharma over karma. Thank the divine for its presence and for its assistance. Say any prayers for yourself or others. Ask again if there are any messages for you. Listen. Snuff the candles out and keep the piece of paper you wrote all of your desires on. Put it under your pillow you sleep on till the next new moon ceremony. For the next new moon ceremony take the paper and re-write it to include only the wishes not yet manifested, but the ones that have manifested should be excluded. This process helps to build energy and focus on your intentions.

This ceremony can be done every new moon with this format. Keep your intention strong and an open loving heart and watch the power of the universe work for you.

A Full Moon Ceremony

November 23 2015
A Full Moon Ceremony
Written by Thalita Angelika Forray- Param Dayal Kaur

On November 25th 2015 we are graciously given the chance to clear ourselves of all that no longer serves us.

November 25th is a Gemini full moon.

Like the twins that govern this astrological symbol we can reflect on our light and dark nature, that which we wish to foster and that which we wish to release. Full moons are a time of cleansing, deep reflection and release. We can use the powerful lunar influences to create positive changes in our lives.

During the Lunar cycle, the full moon is at the climax. It is the completion and marks the end as it comes to its full radiance. From the full point on it will begin to return to the void, back into the darkness and then emerge as the new moon; from birth to death the cycle continues.

The full moon is the middle point, the center and it is from here we can decide which path we want to take. Just as in meditation we work to center ourselves, the full moon provides the energetic foundation for us to excel and go deeper in our practice.

It is for this reason; we have included a meditation below that can be practiced on the full moon. As well, we are sharing a ceremony you can perform alone or with others to cleanse and purify everything you no longer wish to keep in your life,; while you bathe in the beautiful moon light.

Sacred Full Moon Ceremony

For supplies you will need:

Paper

Pen

2 Candles + Lighter

Sage (white sage if possible)

Fire safe Bowl

Cloth ( to put objects on)

Instructions:

1) Set Up:

Make sure you wont be interrupted, turn off your phone and dedicate the time you have set for yourself and this ceremony. Turn on some soft music in the background that creates a sacred feeling for you. Cover the floor with a cloth and lay out all the supplies. This will be your temporary altar. You can put crystals or other special objects that have meaning for you on it as well.

2) Create the sacred space:

Begin by cleansing the space with white sage, as you burn the sage and spread the smoke around the area say a prayer of healing and clearing. Then sage your body. (If you dislike smoke you can get sage essential oil and put a 10 drops in a spray bottle and use this method). Make sure to get the bottom of the feet, the hands and the back of the heart.

3) Invite the Divine in:

Light the 2 candles and invoke the divine to be present in the space and ceremony with you. (The divine can be Jesus, Buddha, Mother Mary, Nature, Light- whatever you feel the most connected to). Ask them for their assistance in the ceremony and if they have any guiding insights to give you at that moment. Then listen and feel the presence.

4) Write:

Take the pen and paper and begin writing down everything you wish to release out of your life. Everything that is bothering you that you no longer want to entertain. Keep writing until you cannot come up with anything else. Feel yourself letting go, releasing.

5) Burn it!:

In a fire safe bowl burn the paper you have written on with everything you want to release. As you watch it burn feel everything that you want to let go of, leave. See it dissolving in the flame.

6) Meditate:

Sit in easy pose ( cross-legged posture) and visualize white light clearing your body and mind of all blocks, all limitations, everything that is holding you back that you need to let go of. See the white light dissolve and clear everything. Like an onion begin peeling away layers. Start with the aura, clearing the area around the body. Then move to the skin surface and then move internally. Keep peeling away layers and move deeper as you become more and more radiant. When you feel you are complete, move to the next step.

7) Full Moon Meditation:

You can continue meditating with the meditation we have given you below ( Full Moon Mediation) . Or if you feel you are complete continue to the next step.

8) End the Ceremony:

Thank the divine for this space and for the time to heal. Thank the divine for its presence and for its assistance. Say any prayers for yourself or others. Ask again if there are any messages for you. Listen. Snuff the candles out and keep the intention of the ceremony in your heart.

This ceremony can be performed every full moon and you will notice that the list of that which you wish to release will become less and/or change. The power comes partially from the moon, but the other half is you and your intention. If you come with a true heart and sincere prayer to heal it’s effect will be great.

Full Moon Meditation.

It is advised to wear a head covering to contain the energies you raise with the mantra. Practice alone or with a group. Wearing white/light colored natural clothing also helps to extend the aura and deepen the practice. See the link to the meditation below.

Practicing the 5 Tibetan Rites as prep for Acroyoga

January 26 2014

Right now people all around the world are practicing acro yoga.

In preparation forced yoga exercise there are many things we can do to keep our bodies strong and ready for practice.

I'd like to share with you the age old practice of the 5 Tibetan rites.

If you can spend about 20 minutes every day with the rites and Shavasana after that, your body will be strong and powerful. You will also be happy from the core. Additionally, you will look young and feel vital. The rites are brilliant.

Each Rite gives an energy wash and cleanse to the Chakra system as well as the Endocrine glands.

The rites provide the body with energy, vitality and clarity of mind.

As we code our bodies on a cellular level with the Rites we begin to feel & see there effects in our lives.

You can remember the order of the Tibetan rites if you remember the work "SoLiCiTeD"

Each exercise should be done slowly 7, 14, or 21 times. The number 7 is symbolic of the 7 chakras.

1st Rite: S= Spinning
(Clockwise to the right with arms stretched out parallel to the ground)

Please stop and rest if too dizzy.

Take 2 breaths in between "superhero" breaths (hands on the hips inhale through the nose, make an "O" with the mouth and exhale.

2nd Rite: L= Leg lifts. Go slowly to protect the lower back (hands under low back puts less strain on back)

Exhale lift lets. Keep legs straight if possible. Otherwise, bent is fine.

Inhale lower your legs, keep them off the floor by a few inches.

Take 2 "superhero" breaths.

3rd Rite: C= Camel Stretches

Inhale slowly into modified camel pose. Exhale slowly back.

Hands below Buttocks- Elbows pointed inward, opening chest.

Inhale arch back. Exhale return

Take 2 "superhero" breaths.

4th Rite: T= Table top

Inhale to table top. Exhale back and chin to chest

Keep legs and feet hip width

Take 2 "superhero" breaths.

5th Rite: D= Down Dog

Start in Down Dog. Inhale to Up Dog (keep toes tucked). Exhale to Down Dog

Take 2 "superhero" breaths.

Black Yoga Pants

January 23 2014

Check out our Black Yoga Pants, they're made of bamboo and super comfy. So many of my friends tell me that they don't want to take them off! You can practically live in them, lol.

For yoga, these pants are great because they will not restrict your movements and they aren't too revealing. No-one is going to see through these pants!

I like doing acro-yoga in my black yoga pants, some of my favorite acro poses are: full bow, throne, scorpion on down dog, birdy and bat. If you haven't tried acro yet, you're missing out!

Here in Vancouver we wear a lot of black yoga pants, in the winter it's cloudy and rainy all the time, sigh. Oh well, lots of time for my yoga practice. In the summer I like to do acro at kits beach. We're going to be hanging out there a lot this summer and you might see lots of people wearing our clothes!

Besides, black yoga tights, I'm going to be coming out with Capris in the springtime! I'm really excited about them, they're going to look fantastic. Capri's are similar to black yoga pants except they are 3/4 length and there is a thicker waistband.

These black yoga pants that you see on the left are not only great for yoga, but also as casual wear, workout wear and some girls (like me) use them for dressing up! Super ultra purpose. I know, right!
